This demo is a booting up, so to speak. It is the first signs of life after the power button has been pressed, the fan starts to run and the screen flickers on. Black first, then computer code scrawled across the screen, then the faintest legible writing "The Puppets."

In the first winter of 2016, very early on, Nick Theo and at the time Gordon were busy collecting parts for the project. RAM and hard drives, interfaces, mics off of Amazon with 2-day shipping to hurry the process. All scavenged and tangled together in an elaborate homemade contraption designed to capture the fleeting sounds which were being crafted on the mud-caked rug in Nick's garage.

The computer was handmade, the studio doubled as a refuge for large trucks and SUVs, the engineers were the musicians themselves. This demo is the first prototype that didn't crash and burn, it's the little model airplane that the Wright Brothers refuse to throw away because it is the first glimpse at a spark, a flickering light a dream.
